Japanese paintings of the Madonna and Child are a religious and cultural legacy of the persecution of Christianity under the Tokugawa shogunate, when the Kakure Kirishitan (Hidden Christians) developed ingenious ways to practice their faith in secret during 250 years. Love them and just painted one for my project HIKARI.

These are some character designs that I made for a 2D project set in the North Pole

 

ROTZBUB, MY FIRST FEATURE FILM AS DIRECTOR

 

I have been directing the film "Rotzbub" for three years, which is the first animated feature film completely made in Austria. Besides the director, I developed tasks as storyboard artist, animation supervisor and animator.  The film brings to life the characters of the austrian cartoonist Manfred Deix; he was the art director, and his work our main reference for the visual design. The story is inspired by Manfred Deix´s own youth, and it is set in a small alpine austrian town in the sixties; actually, it is not just a coming of age story about love and growing up, it is also a mirror of the Austrian society of the time, 20 years after the II World War.
